Lots of eyes will be on Winfield-Mount Union football as the Wolves look to start the season 2-0 by beating New London on the road tomorrow night. WMU is ranked sixth in the state after knocking off number ten Central City 44-36 last week.
Wolves senior star Cam Buffington will look to duplicate a monster Week One performance where he rushed for 194 yards and two touchdowns while also catching three TD passes and piling up 15-and-a-half tackles on defense.
Buffington scored more than 30 touchdowns last season on both sides of the ball and had more than 1,700 yards from scrimmage. WMU’s new starting quarterback Jake Edwards is also coming off a strong debut, throwing for 212 yards while also running for a score.
Winfield-Mount Union will be trying to take down a New London team that went 6-4 last season but dropped its season opener to Easton Valley 61-22 last week. The Wolves will need to slow down quarterback Gavin Menke-Bailey, who led the Tigers with 182 yards passing and another 102 yards on the ground. WMU kicks off against New London tomorrow evening at 7.
