The Washington County Board of Supervisors approved an Iowa DOT agreement at their meeting on Tuesday. Washington County Engineer Jacob Thorius gives some details, “This is a formal agreement between the Iowa DOT, Canadian Pacific Railroad and the County to work on repairing the crossing there on Old Military Road. It is the crossing on the West side of Ainsworth. To get on the list for funding where the DOT will cover %60 of the cost, railroad %20, and the other %20 is actually going to be split between the County and the City since half of that crossing is in the City limits and half of it’s ours.”  The project does not have a date set yet to begin, the County will be waiting to hear back from the Iowa DOT about the funding request first.
