Beginning on September 5, road construction will take place on W61 or Riverside Road from G36 north to the city limits of Riverside. This work is being done by Iowa Plains Signing Inc. of Slater.

The first part of the project includes adding centerline rumble strips to the road. This operation will be done with flaggers and a pilot car operation, and last approximately two days. Once the rumble strips are installed, the contractor will come back and repaint the centerline markings. Weather permitting, the project should not take more than 10 days.

While this section of W61 is under construction, it will remain open to thru traffic with the use of flaggers and pilot cars to assist traffic within the work zone. Drivers are reminded to slow down in construction zones and follow the direction of the flaggers. In addition, be prepared for delays when traveling on Riverside Road throughout the duration of this project. With any questions, contact the Washington County Engineer’s Office at 319-653-7731.
