The Hillcrest Academy Raven volleyball team is back on their home floor tonight to welcome the Pekin Panthers to Kalona. The Ravens are 4-4 on the year after splitting four matches Saturday at the English Valleys Tournament. Hillcrest knocked off the Sigourney Savages and Tri-County Trojans, but dropped matches to the WACO Warriors and home Bears. On the season, team totals for Hillcrest include 50 kills and 47 assists, 110 digs and four blocks, along with 13 aces and a 91% serve efficiency. Individual leaders include, sophomore Claire Withrow with 44 assists, junior Kylee Statler with 15 kills, six aces and three blocks, and junior Malia Yoder with 28 digs.
The Pekin Panthers are still in search of their first victory, standing at 0-5 this year, after losses to Van Buren, Centerville, WACO, Keota and Highland. Statistically this year, the Panthers have 61 kills, 58 assists, 176 digs, 17 blocks, 36 aces and an 83% serve efficiency. Individual leaders include Kayse Miller with 18 kills, Myah Bainbridge with 53 assists and 12 aces, Alex Parsons with 43 digs, and Ava Gillam with eight blocks. These two teams have split the last 22 meetings with Pekin scoring the 2022 victory and Hillcrest winning in 2021. Action starts tonight at 5:30p.m. At Hillcrest Union.
