The Lone Tree Class of 2024 is using an in-state rivalry to their advantage this week as they continue their class fundraiser.

With the Iowa-Iowa State football game this weekend, Cyclone and Hawkeye fans can donate money to the school, designating which team they would like to support. At the end of each day, Celebration Rock outside the school will be painted the school color of the team with the most donations. All funds received will go towards supporting Class of 2024 activities, like graduation and the senior trip.

Lone Tree Middle/High School Principal and Iowa State alum, Andrew Koshatka, has embraced the spirit of competition while supporting his alma mater, stating, “We’re in eastern Iowa, so close to Iowa City, but Iowa State fans are so dedicated you know we are gonna take this. You Iowa fans, you have no chance. So I guess we’ll just have to see what you got.”

Donations are accepted in the form of cash or check, and can be brought to the school until the end of the day on Friday, September 8.
