The Washington County Board of Supervisors heard the quarterly report from Washington County Engineer Jacob Thorius at their meeting on Tuesday. Here are some highlights from Thorius, “It was a typical second quarter of the year for us; we started replacing some pipe; we had about four hundred feet of cross-road pipe that we replaced in various spots around the county. We started our vegetation activities, mowing and cutting along the paved shoulders and started rock roads, continued to cut brush, trimmed around guard rails, and we seeded up areas from last year. Our rock roads we bladed them to get them back into shape from winter. We hauled rock throughout April, May, and June. So rocked hauled in April a little over 22,000 tons, in May just shy of 16,000 tons, and in June we hauled just shy of 2,000 and we hauled most of it by the end of May for the year.” A large portion of time was dedicated to the cleanup after the March 31st tornado that came through the county. Forty signs at a cost of $4,238.85 were replaced by the crew following the cleanup.
