A new bakery has arrived in the City of Keota, and its grand opening will be celebrated with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 8:45 a.m. on Saturday, September 9.

Prairie Flower Bakery was started by Jenny Schneider, longtime resident of Keota. With a background in hog barn maintenance and the help of her family, Schneider has spent the last two years renovating the site at 214 East Broadway Avenue in Keota. Prairie Flower Bakery will offer a variety of goods including cinnamon rolls, pies, donuts, muffins, cookies, and breads, along with an array of candies.

The journey has been a long one for Schneider, who first had the idea to start her own business five years ago. Now just one day from the grand opening, Schneider shared her thoughts with KCII, “[It’s] surreal. I never imagined I’d get this far with this, and I’m scared, I’m excited, just all kinds of emotions all together.”
