The City of Wellman is now accepting bids for a new splash pad to be built next year at the Wellman Community Park.

All interested bidders must submit a sealed proposal to the Wellman City Clerk by 2 p.m. on September 27. Any proposals received after this date will be returned unopened. In addition to the proposal, a separate envelope must be submitted, containing a Bidder Status Form and bid security in the sum of 10% of the bid, made payable to Treasurer of the City of Wellman, Iowa. If the successful bidder fails to enter a contract with the City within 10 days of being awarded the contract, then the bid security will be forfeited.

According to a notice released by the City of Wellman, the project involves “a splash pad, including grading, installation of all splash pad fixtures and equipment, and related items shown on the plans”. The work is to be done strictly with the Project Manual prepared by Shive-Hattery, Inc. of Cedar Rapids.

The tentative start date for construction is April 1, 2024, with a final completion date of June 3. The Wellman City Council will select a winning bid at their meeting on Monday, October 2 or at a special meeting called for that purpose.
