The WACO Warriors find themselves in an unfamiliar place as they prepare to host HLV for a Week Four district football battle tonight. WACO lost their first regular-season game since 2020 by falling to Winfield-Mount Union last week and tumbled outside of the state rankings for the first time in 2 years.
The Warriors have the offensive star power to bounce back this week. Junior running back Louden Huisenga leads the team in both rushing and receiving, piling up 394 yards from scrimmage and scoring seven total touchdowns. Senior tight end Colton Leichty has caught 11 passes for 113 yards, while junior quarterback Clayton Miller has passed for 334 yards and run for another 118 and accounted for eight TDs.
Huisenga and Leichty have been the leaders of the WACO defense, topping the team in tackles. Leichty has 22 stops, including six tackles for loss and two sacks, while Huisenga has made 18 tackles and recovered a fumble.
The Warriors will face an HLV team that is 0-4. Freshman running back Cael Weisskopf has made some big plays with almost 280 total yards, but the other set of Warriors is averaging only 144 yards and 10 points per game. WACO looks for a fourth straight win against HLV tonight in Wayland, with kickoff set for 7 this evening.
