The Sigourney Savages scored another conference volleyball victory Thursday, going on the road and winning in straight sets at Tri-County. Sigourney took the first set 25-18, and after Tri-County kept it close but lost the second 25-22, the Savages finished off the win by taking the third set 25-18.

Junior middle blocker Reagan Clarahan led Sigourney with 11 kills. Senior outside hitter Amiya Smallwood finished with nine kills, two serving aces and 11 digs, while junior hitter Josephine Moore had seven kills, a pair of aces and 12 digs. Senior setter Ava Fineran handed out 24 assists to go with three kills and three aces for the Savages, who are now 2-0 in the South Iowa Cedar League and 7-4 overall.

The Keota Eagles were not as fortunate, falling in four sets at English Valleys Thursday night. After dropping a tight first set 26-24 and losing the second 25-15, Keota rallied to win the third set 25-22. Unfortunately, English Valleys claimed the fourth set 25-19 and took the match.

It’s the fourth straight loss for the Eagles after a 5-0 start to the season, all losses of which are in conference play. While Keota is off a week until facing Iowa Valley, Sigourney will face the Tigers in their next match Monday.
