It has been a terrific start to the season for the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk volleyball team. The Hawks are out to a 14-3 start, have won seven of their last eight matches, stand in a first place tie atop the River Valley Conference, and are ranked No. 10 in Class 3A in the latest poll from the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union. The numbers behind their great play also place them among the elite in Class 3A. Mid-Prairie is second in the state with a .324 kill efficiency, fifth with 133 aces, seventh with 550 kills, seventh with 530 assists and ninth with 817 digs.
Individually, junior Dakota Mitchell is fourth in the state with 263 digs and 10th in 3A with 27 aces. The Hawks are next on the court Saturday at the South Tama Tournament.
