A pair of KCII area volleyball teams faceoff tonight in Southeast Iowa Superconference action when the Highland Huskies visit the Hillcrest Academy Ravens. Hillcrest comes into the contest with a 6-10 overall record and 1-4 standing in conference. The Ravens dropped matches to Burlington Notre Dame, Van Buren and Columbus in pool play for the Superconference tournament a week ago. On the year, Hillcrest has 650 digs, 317 kills, 285 assists, 98 aces and 52 blocks. Individual leaders include sophomore Claire Withrow with 277 assists, junior Malia Yoder has 190 digs and 109 kills, and junior Kylee Statler with 28 aces and 21 blocks.

Highland is 8-12 overall, 2-2 in Superconference action after going 1-2 in conference tourney pool play at home Thursday. The Huskies knocked off Pekin, but fell to Mediapolis and West Burlington. For the season, Highland has 697 digs, 331 kills, 283 assists, 89 aces and 61 blocks. Individually, Highland is led by senior Madison Beeson with 231 digs, junior Laney Skelton with 145 assists, senior Sarah Burton with 98 kills, senior Payton Brun with 20 blocks and senior Grace Prybil with 19 aces. These two teams met on opening night with Hillcrest scoring a straight set win.

Tonight’s festivities also include the banner raising for the 2023 Class 1A State Champion Raven boys golf team. Action starts tonight at 7p.m. at Hillcrest Academy.
