Beginning today, and into the weekend, Hometown Pride Louisa County is hosting a Fine Art Show at the Morning Sun Community Center.

The four-day event continues through Sunday, October 1, and features 26 artists, each with a connection to Louisa County. Hours are 2:30 to 7 p.m. today, noon to 7 p.m. Friday, noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday. Also on Sunday is a reception for the artists from 6 to 7:30 p.m. that the public is welcome to attend.

Secretary for Hometown Pride Louisa County, Paula Buckman, tells KCII the motivation for starting this event six years ago, and why she encourages all to attend. “This is one event that we have tried to have annually to support the artists in the area, and it’s always surprising the amount of talent we actually have in this area. I think there is a creative urge in almost every person, and we get kinda too busy sometimes. If we can encourage people to come and enjoy the art, and perhaps find an outlet for themselves, that’s a great win-win.”

The Fine Art Show is free to attend, with the opportunity for guests to purchase some of the pieces. Galleries consist of two and three-dimensional art, along with photography. Also open during the event is the Lora Rock Gallery. Rock is a well-known, Morning Sun artist from the late 1800s.
