Homecoming for the Sigourney community begins this week, with activities that students, staff, and residents can get involved in.

Each dress-up day includes a nod to this year’s Homecoming theme of “Coming Home”. Monday is “Home Sweet Home” or Pajama Day, Tuesday is “Chillin’ With My Homies” or Twin Day, Wednesday is “Home Run” or Jersey Day, Thursday is “Home of the Brave” or Patriotic Day, and Friday is Spirit Day.

The Homecoming Parade will be held on Wednesday, October 4, beginning at 6 p.m. Floats will line up at Sigourney Elementary and run through Pleasant Valley Street to the High School. Boom Night follows the parade and includes a pep rally and the King and Queen Coronation. This year’s Homecoming Court includes Darby Mitchell, Lana Thomas, Ava Fineran, Carly Goodwin, Reid Molyneux, Kale Clarahan, Jake Moore, and Dylan Renner.

Any businesses interested in decorating their storefront can email leane.stutzman@sigourneyschools.com. Cheerleaders will be judging window decorations on Friday, with the winner announced at the football game that night. The Cobras hit the field at 7 p.m. as they host Colfax-Mingo. The Homecoming Dance, which is open to Sigourney and Keota students, closes out the festivities on Saturday night at 8.
