Top runners will be on the course tonight for the Southeast Iowa Superconference Championship cross country meet at Central Lee, including those from six schools in the KCII listening area.
The Hillcrest Academy Ravens come into the night after hosting their final home meet of the year Monday. The Hillcrest girls were seventh as a team, led by a fifth place finish for Marie Yoder in 21:01. The Raven boys were 10th in the team race with Micah Gerber leading the way in 28th at 19:41.
The Highland Huskies last competed at Washington last week where the boys were eighth as a team led by Jackson Schneider 83rd in 23:32 and the girls top finish came from Halle Hazelett in 25:21 for 50th.
Lone Tree ran Monday at Hillcrest Academy. Vivian Zaruba led the Lady Lions taking 36th in 25:44 and Brock Nebergal was best for the boys in 44th at 20:35.
Columbus last raced Saturday at Warburg College in Waverly. The Wildcat girls were 35th and the boys were 36th. Top finishes for the ‘Cats included Iris Garza 60th on the girls side in 21:40 and Damian Vergara 195th for the boys in 18:59.
Winfield-Mt. Union last raced at their home meet a week ago. The Wolves were boys team runners-up led by Kohlby Newsom in third at just over 18 minutes. The Lady Wolves top finish was Afton Wilkerson in 23rd.
WACO was also last on the course in Winfield. Keriran Luitjens led the Warrior boys in 23rd and Justine Lynn led the Warrior girls in 34th.
Joining those teams in action tonight are the No. 14 in Class 1A Danville/New London boys and their girls, Holy Trinity Catholic, Louisa-Muscatine, the No. 17 in Class 2A Mediapolis boys and their girls, Notre Dame/West Burlington, the No. 3 in Class 1A Pekin boys and their girls, Van Buren, Wapello and the home Central Lee Hawks. Action begins with Junior High races at 4:30 tonight and continues into the evening in Donnellson.
