The Winfield-Mount Union Wolves continued their march towards repeating as conference volleyball champions with a straight-sets victory over Pekin last night, 25-10, 25-16 and 25-11.
Senior middle blocker Mariana Piper had a strong night at the net for Winfield-Mount Union with team highs of six kills and three blocked shots, while sophomore Quin Smith also had six kills in the middle. WMU senior Tessa Huston covered plenty of ground with three kills and 10 digs, while senior outside hitter Audrie Gipple finished with four kills, three blocks and four digs.
Senior setter Aurey Meeker had a kill, three serving aces and eight digs to go with the 10 assists she handed out for the Wolves, who are now 7-0 in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference North and 17-12 overall. The Super Conference North title will all come down to Tuesday night, when Winfield-Mount Union hosts Wapello, who is also undefeated in conference play.
