The Sigourney Savages secured another conference volleyball victory by winning in straight sets Thursday at Colfax-Mingo. Sigourney took the first 25-18 and kept rolling from there, winning the next two frames 25-14 and 25-22.
Senior outside hitter Amiya Smallwood led the Savages with nine kills and 15 digs. Junior middle blocker Reagan Clarahan had a huge night at the net with eight kills and five blocked shots.
Junior Josephine Moore added seven kills, nine digs and a block, while senior setter Ava Fineran dished out 21 assists to help Sigourney improve to 12-5. The Savages also finish conference play with a 7-1 record, earning them a split title in the East division of the South Iowa Cedar League.
The Keota Eagles concluded conference action with a victory as well, taking down Lynnville-Sully in four sets Thursday. Keota took the first set 25-16 and bounced back from losing the second set by the same score to win each of the final two frames by a score of 25-17.
The win wraps up the Eagles’ league action with a record of 2-6 and improves their overall mark to 8-11. Both Sigourney and Keota will get one more crack at their conference rivals next week during the South Iowa Cedar League Tournament.
