The WACO Warriors finished up the football regular season on a high note, as WACO knocked off English Valleys 51-6 Friday night in Wayland. The Warriors seized a 30-0 lead in the first quarter and never looked back.

It was a strong night for the WACO passing game, as senior tight end Colton Leichty caught two touchdown passes that covered 21 total yards and junior Gage Samo finished with two receptions for 68 yards and a TD. Junior quarterback Clayton Miller completed five out of six pass attempts for 97 yards to go with his three scoring tosses, and Leichty also threw a 32-yard touchdown to senior Hunter Hughes.

Junior Louden Husinega led the Warrior rushing attack with four carries for 32 yards and a TD. Huisenga also had a team-high seven tackles on defense, while senior Jonathan Heather and Huisenga had two tackles for loss each.

A fourth straight win brings WACO’s record to 4-1 in district play and 6-1 overall. While they will be off next week, by finishing second place in District 6, the Warriors are heading to the 8-man state playoffs and will return to the field October 20th.
