The Hillcrest Academy Raven volleyball team put an exclamation point on their regular season Tuesday with a three set sweep of Southeast Iowa Superconference rival Louisa-Muscatine in Kalona. The Ravens won the match by scores of 25-11, 25-15 and 25-16. Hillcrest was led on the night by 13 assists from Claire Withrow, 11 kills for Malia Yoder, 10 digs for Lydia Beachy and eight aces from Kylee Statler. Following the match Ravens, Niva Helmuth, Adrianne Blauvelt, Tara Poole, Zoey Curtiss and Erin Bontrager joined KCII sports to break down the win. Helmuth said, “We came out super strong tonight. We were just having a lot of fun. We did a great job covering tips off blocks.”

Bontrager continued, “Always getting the first point of the game is the best. It makes you feel like you’re going to get a win.”

Poole and Curtiss added, “Our strong start in the game really helped push us through for the win. I think we came out confident and energized because it’s our last home. Everyone wanted to do great. ”

Blauvelt said, “I feel like we flow to the ball now a lot better than we did at the beginning of the season.”

With the victory, Hillcrest is now 10-13 overall, finishing conference play at 3-5. They open the 1A regional tournament Monday at English Valleys.
