At their meeting on Wednesday, the Washington School Board discussed a partnership with the Highland Girls Wrestling program. Superintendent Willie Stone gives some more insight, “Girls wrestling, we are recommending that we share with Highland this year. We have been unable to obtain a coach for girls wrestling to give them their own program. Mr. Miller met with some of the students who are going to wrestle and just explained here’s where we’re at. What do you think about Highland we talked about possibly WACO also, and they’re excited, and they think Highland is the better option for us, and so does Mr. Miller, so we’ve reached out to them.” It was voted on unanimously to approve the partnership with the Highland Girls Wrestling program. The first meets of the wrestling season are November with practices beginning late October.
