The Sigourney Savages put together a solid basketball season last year, going 13-10 overall and 9-7 in conference play to finish second in the South Iowa Cedar League. Now Sigourney and head coach Mitch Eslick will be trying to make more progress as a new season nears.

The Savages will be looking to replace sharp-shooting guard Karson Weber, who averaged over 11 points per game and hit better than 34 percent of his three-point shots. Graduated forwards Clay Morse and Cole Clarahan will also need to be replaced after combining to put up 14 points and 13 rebounds per contest.

Sigourney will have back the all-conference talents of junior Issac Bruns, who is coming off an all-around season where he averaged almost 13-and-a-half points, 8.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 2.5 steals and 1.5 blocked shots a game.

Sophomore Solon Yates and senior Kale Clarahan also return and will take on bigger roles after averaging a combined 9.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists. The Savages will open the new boys’ basketball season November 28th when they host their rivals from Keota.
