kirkwood-visit

Five buses of students from their seven partner schools visited Kirkwood Community College’s main campus in Cedar Rapids on Friday, November 10th. The campus visit was an important opportunity for students to gain valuable information and insights about the degrees, diplomas and certification programs that Kirkwood has to offer. For many high schoolers, this was the first college visit they had participated in. For students who are pursuing a career that requires a bachelor’s or master’s degree, Kirkwood has transfer agreements with the University of Iowa, Iowa State University, and the University of Northern Iowa. Students were able to speak with representatives from those universities to learn what the process entails to complete their general education requirements at Kirkwood before transferring to a state university. The campus visit included an introduction to Kirkwood’s programs from the Admissions team, along with a Q&A with a panel of current students who answered questions about their experiences as a college student. Dividing students up by career interest, there were tours and a time to talk with lead faculty from the department. Kirkwood apartments were also toured.
