The Highland Huskies kept up their undefeated start to the high school girls’ basketball season by defeating Belle Plaine 39-18 last night in Riverside. Highland jumped out to a 14-7 lead by the end of the first quarter and pushed that advantage to 12 points by halftime, staying in front by double-digits the rest of the night and finishing the night on a 12-2 run.
Senior Sarah Burton led the Huskies with 13 points, while senior Stella Slaymaker and freshman Hailey Brun scored six points each to help Highland improve to 3-0. The Huskies hit the road for the first time this season this evening when they face Hillcrest Academy in Kalona.
