Three boys wrestling teams from the KCII listening area will be on the mat today at New London High School for this year’s edition of the Jeremy Fulk Classic. The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks were last in action Thursday at West Branch for a River Valley Conference quad where they went 1-2 with a win over Dyersville Beckman and losses to the Tipton Tigers and home Bears. Mid-Prairie was led on the night by 138lber Tucker Miller’s 2-0 record in contested matches. Miller has the top win total this year at 6-0, while Parker English, and Burke Berry both have three victories. The Hawks were runners-up at this tournament last year.

The WACO Warriors will also be in New London today. This is their first live action of the season. The Warriors had a 14-10 dual record last season and sent three athletes to the state tournament in Des Moines, sophomore Gage Samo at 113lbs, sophomore Louden Huisenga at 160 and senior Drew Diers at 195, with Samo getting on the podium in sixth. Huisenga was the team leader with 42 wins. The Warriors were fourth as a team at this event last year.

This is also the first event of the year for Lone Tree. A season ago, the Lions had one team dual victory. Clemens Swaink at 138lbs and Brody Magruder at 165 are back from last year. They finished sixth at this tournament a year ago.

Joining these three schools at today’s event are BGM, Cedar Rapids Washington and the home Tigers. Action continues all day today at Lorber Gym at New London High School.
