It’s the first conference road test of the season for Washington Demons basketball tonight when both Washington teams travel to face old foe Fairfield in a doubleheader you can hear on KCII.
The Washington girls are 2-3 and looking to avoid a third straight loss, one of which was the first Southeast Conference game of the season last Friday night against Keokuk. Behind tenacious defense from players like junior Kendall Hinrichsen and the scoring of sophomores Adalyn Long and Addison Miller, the Demons will try to knock off a Fairfield team that they beat in both meetings last season and is winless thus far this season.
On the boys’ side, Washington has dropped three in a row since winning their season opener and is looking for a get-right game. Sophomore Drew Conrad has provided an offensive burst by averaging a team-high 12 points per game, while junior Logan McDole has showcased his all-around talents with an average of almost nine points, two-and-a-half rebounds, two assists, one steal and one blocked shot per contest.
Still, the Demons fell hard in their conference opener to Keokuk last week and will not only look for redemption, but also some revenge. Washington’s season came to an end last year in the first round of substate with a 57-51 home loss to Fairfield, which is also currently 1-3. You can hear both games this evening as the Demons duke it out with the Trojans on 106.1 FM KCII as well as streaming on KCIIradio.com and the KCII app. Coverage starts with the Countdown to Tip-Off at 5:30.
