The Mid-Prairie girls and boys basketball teams traveled to Wilton Tuesday for their third River Valley Conference road doubleheader in a week. The Mid-Prairie girls took care of business with a 78-37 win. The Hawks scored the first 10 of the game and never looked back, on top 25-4 after one and 51-18 at half before enacting the running clock after intermission. Mid-Prairie forced 38 Wilton turnovers, won the boards by 29, had 21 offensive rebounds, saw nine players score, and had four reach double figures. Brooklyn Schneider led the way with a career high 21 points. Callie Huber put together another double double with 17 points and 11 boards, Nora Pennington scored 13 and Jovi Evans 12. With the win, the Hawks are now 5-2 and host Durant Friday.
The Mid-Prairie boys started slow and battled back, but ran out of gas in a 71-60 loss in Wilton Tuesday. The Beavers led 23-14 after one, but the Hawks won the second quarter 16-7 to tie the game at 30 going to the break. The contest was even at 47 going to the fourth, before the Beavers exploded for 24 points to take the win. Three Golden Hawks got to double figures, led by Brady Weber’s 15 points, 14 for Dylan Henry and 12 for Brock Harland. With the loss, the Hawks fall to 2-3 ahead of a game Thursday at Pekin.
