Iowa high school students who plan to pursue a post-secondary major or minor in agriculture are encouraged to apply for an annual scholarship from the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation. Worth $2,500, the scholarship is awarded each year to 27 students, and is renewable for four years up to $10,000.
Applicants must be tied to an Iowa Farm Bureau membership in good standing, have a minimum 2.5 GPA, and should be accepted into an accredited higher education institution. Applications include an essay detailing the student’s extracurricular activities, community service, commitment to agriculture, and two character reference letters. One student will be selected from each Iowa county, after which the pool will be worked down to three students from each of the Farm Bureau’s nine districts.
Additionally the Daniel Johnson Memorial Scholarship will be made available for one student in District 7. This includes Henry, Jefferson, Keokuk, Louisa, and Washington Counties, and is a one-time $500 scholarship awarded to a student pursuing a degree in agriculture.
Applications for these scholarships are due by January 31, 2024. For more information on how to apply or become a member of the Iowa Farm Bureau, click here.
