Last week, the Enhance Henry County Community Foundation announced the recipients of its 19th round of grants. Twenty-nine Henry County organizations were awarded funds totaling $140,000.
At a ceremony held on Tuesday, December 12, all grant recipients along with public officials throughout the County met at the Union Block Building in Mt. Pleasant. It was there that the funds were awarded to these organizations and non-profits to support projects that might not otherwise be available.
The Enhance Henry County Community Foundation applied for funds from the County Endowment Fund legislation and received just under $159,000. Twenty-five percent of this was restricted to a permanent endowment, with the rest going towards competitive grantmaking. More than $534,000 of grant applications were received for this round of funding. Notable projects include emergency sirens for the City of Wayland, a building remodel for the Winfield Food Pantry, and campground revitalization at Midwest Old Threshers.
