Washington High School senior Luke Beenblossom will be continuing his baseball career at the next level, as he recently signed his letter of intent to play at Simpson College in Indianola. Beenblossom tells KCII Sports why he chose the Storm.
“They have great facilities and great coaches,” Beenblossom says. “Coach [Ryan] Willis was the first guy to reach out to me this summer, and I think we hit it off from the start. It just feels like home there [during] the couple of times I’ve been there.”
Beenblossom also says he’s excited to make his college choice official and is prepared to learn a lot more about the game he loves.
“It’s a big stress relief,” he says. “The recruiting process is fun, but it’s stressful. Now [I] can just play free and easy. It’s not going to be easy the first couple of years, but, if you know guys at that level, I think just asking questions is big.”
Beenblossom had a .241 batting average for Washington last summer with six doubles, a home run, 12 runs batted in and a team-high 17 runs scored. He also had a 1-3 record as a pitcher last season and compiled 16 strikeouts in 16 innings of work.
