The City of Washington would like to remind residents that having vehicles off the street during snow storms makes it easier for city crews to plow and helps drainage when melting occurs. The City is asking residents to place garbage and recycling carts on the terrace if possible. When the City removes snow in the downtown area, the permanent signs read No Parking from 10 pm-6 am for snow removal. City personnel places four signs on each corner of Central Park on the days the City will be cleaning. The City wants to remind residents that they are responsible for keeping their sidewalks free from snow and ice. If the property owners and/or occupants fail to remove the ice and snow, the City may do so, and the cost of the removal will be levied against the property per City ordinance.
