A local head coach will be leading some of the state’s top seniors in one of Iowa’s long-standing football traditions. WACO Warriors coach Chad Edeker has been announced as the head man of the South team for the 2024 Iowa Shrine Bowl.
Edeker was selected by the Iowa Football Coaches Association to lead the South squad at the annual all-star game featuring senior football players and cheerleaders from across the state. The game will be played July 20th at the UNI-Dome on the campus of the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls and raises money for the Shriners’ Children hospitals and burn centers throughout the Midwest.
Edeker has guided WACO to 30 wins over the last three seasons on the gridiron, including starting 13-0 and reaching the UNI-Dome in 2022 by making the 8-player football state championship.
