Henry County Deputy Sheriff Carlos Lopez works in the New London Community School District as a School Resource Officer. Recently, the District was able to purchase a new Automated External Defibrillator (AED) thanks to a grant that Deputy Sheriff Lopez applied for.

An AED is a medical device used to help those experiencing sudden cardiac arrest. The machine analyzes the heart’s rhythm and will deliver an electric shock or defibrillation if necessary. The grant was received from the Bureau of Emergency Medical and Trauma Services.

The Henry County Sheriff’s Office has been working with the New London Community School District this year as part of a School Resource Program agreement. The AED has been purchased and is on the school grounds.
