With the recent snowfall received in the KCII listening area, local government agencies and volunteer fire departments remind residents to clear any fire hydrants that exist on their property.

While scooping driveways and sidewalks, make sure that fire hydrants are accessible as well by clearing a space from the hydrant to the street, plus at least three feet around it. This allows fire departments to hook up to the hydrant in a timely manner if necessary.

Residents are also reminded that while shoveling snow, they are prohibited from pushing, pulling, or depositing it onto the street.
