The Columbus Wildcats have put together one of their best first halves of a girls’ basketball season in school history. It’s been buoyed by a few of the statistical leaders in the North division of the Southeast Iowa Super Conference.

Lily Coil has been one of those stars for Columbus, excelling in just about every facet of the game. The junior leads the Super Conference North in steals and is second in rebounds, steals and field-goal attempts. Coil has both taken and made the second-most free throws in the league, and her 190 points is fifth-most in the conference.

Point guard Ariana Vergara is third in the Super Conference North in made shots, as well as in assists and steals. No one in the league has taken more total shots than Vergara, and she has attempted the third-most three pointers. Fellow junior Aracely Garza has the fifth-most made threes in the conference with 20 for the Wildcats, who are 8-1 in conference play and 10-3 overall.

On the boys’ side, Tim Hills-Carrier has also been a star for Columbus. The senior has scored the fourth-most points in the Super Conference North on the fifth-most made shots and third-most shot attempts. Hills-Carrier also has the third-most made free throws and second-most attempts at the line in the league, and he has pulled down the fifth-most rebounds in the conference for a Wildcat team that is 2-6 in the Super Conference North and 2-9 in total.
