A boil order issued for Columbus Junction and Columbus City on Monday remains in effect until further notice. City officials await the results from water samples after a controller at the water tower froze.

While the order is in effect, Columbus Junction and Columbus City residents are advised that boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, and food preparation. Boiling water for at least one minute effectively kills any bacteria or other organisms present in the water. Tap water may still be used for bathing or other similar purposes.

KCII will have more information as it becomes official.
