A long road trip for a neutral site game awaits the Mid-Prairie boys basketball team when they travel to Maquoketa Saturday for a contest with the Bellevue Comets as part of the River Valley Conference Shootout. The Hawks are 5-5 overall, 4-3 in the River Valley after a 61-48 Thursday win over West Liberty behind 16 points from Ace Peck, 15 from Brady Weber and 14 for Bryce Henry. On the year the Hawks, score 60 points per game and give up 58, shooting 42% from the floor, 33% from three and 70% at the line with 31 rebounds, 14 assists, seven steals and 18 turnovers per game. Individual leaders include, Bryce Henry at 12 points per game and Weber with six assists, five boards and three steals per night.

Bellevue is 7-3 this year, 3-3 in the RVC North. They beat Camanche Thursday 69-59 behind 19 points for Spencer Abbott. On the year the Comets score 65 per night and give up 56, shooting 42% from the floor, 30% from deep and 52% at the line with 34 rebounds, 14 assists, eight steals and 15 turnovers per game. Individual leaders include, Hunter Putman at 15 points per game, Abbott at six rebounds and Cameron Casel with five assists and two steals per night. Mid-Prairie has won the last two meetings between the schools including a 54-45 victory in 2022. Action starts at 2p.m. Saturday at Maquoketa High School.
