Two area boys wrestling teams travel to North Tama Saturday for the Red Hawk Invitational. The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks were last on the mat Thursday in Wilton where they went 0-3 in conference duals, falling to Durant, West Liberty and the home Beavers, dropping their team record to 7-10 this year. Their last tournament action was at Highland for the Gary Curtis Invitational January 6th, where Burke Berry at 285lbs and Quinn Callahan at 215lbs found their way to the podium in fifth and sixth place respectively. Individually, Berry is the team leader with 18 wins. Those previously mentioned along with Trevyn Riley, Colin O’Rourke, Mason Howe, Max Howe, Austin Bush, Noah Freeman, Max Kipp, Dom Shively, Josh Turner, Jarron Thomas, Tommy Miller and Brock Fisher all have winning records at this point in the season.
Sigoruney-Keota also makes the trip to Traer Saturday. Their last tournament was Ottumwa January 6th where Jake Moore was third and Brady Clark fifth to lead the way. SK has a 5-8 dual record this season. Team wins leader is Clark at 13-5. Those already mentioned along with Dawson Meyer, Ashton Schwab, and Owen Menke have winning records at this point in the year.
Joining those teams today are Baxter, Dyersville-Beckman, BGM, Waterloo Columbus, HLV, Hudson, Riceville, Tripoli, West Marshall and the home Red Hawks. Action continues all day Saturday at North Tama High School.
