The Washington Community School District held testing for radon this week in different locations within the district. KCII News spoke with Superintendent Willie Stone to learn more, “We do it every four years, ; it’s something now that you are required to do. Preschool you are required to do it every two years, last year we went through tested Stewart preschool, we tested all of Stewart last year and the preschool wing was a little elevated. Wasn’t bad, but was just elevated more than we wanted, so we put a mitigation system in this last summer, and we are actually testing the preschool again this year just to make sure that mitigation system is working. We are testing our bus barn, we’re testing the Central Office and we are testing all of the High School.”  If any results from the tests come back abnormal, the district has plans for mitigation systems in place.
