Fresh off of a Monday road rivalry sweep, there’s no rest for the Mid-Prairie boys and girls basketball teams with a scheduled trip to Tipton Tuesday for a River Valley Conference doubleheader. The Golden Hawk girls enter the evening with a 9-7 record overall, 5-3 in conference after a 47-32 win at Washington Monday, where they were led by a 13 point, 13 rebound double double from Callie Huber and 15 points from Brooklyn Schneider. This year, the Hawks score 53 points per game and give up 50, shooting 39% from the floor, 28% from three and 55% at the line with 37 rebounds, 13 assists, 12 steals and 21 turnovers per game. Individually, Callie Huber has 11 points and nine boards per night, and Nora Pennington has four steals and Jovi Evans three assists.
Tipton is 11-5 this season, 5-2 in the RVC. They were beaten at No. 8 Calamus-Wheatland Saturday 54-22. On the year, the Tigers average 45 points per game, giving up 42, shooting 36% from the floor, 31% from three and 50% at the line with 26 rebounds, 10 assists, 11 steals and 17 turnovers per game. Individually, Carly Langenberg leads with 13 points, five boards three steals and three assists per contest. The Hawks swept both meetings a year ago and have won seven straight in the series.
The Mid-Prairie boys are 7-7 on the season, 4-4 in the RVC after a come-from-behind 62-59 win at Washington Monday where Ace Peck led the charge with 24 points on eight threes and Dylan Henry dropped 13. On the year, the Hawks score 62 points per game and give up 60, shooting 42% from the floor, 34% from three and 68% at the line with 28 rebounds, 14 assists, seven steals and 16 turnovers per night. Individually, Bryce Henry scores a team best 14 points per night, with Brady Weber at six assists, five boards and two steals to lead the team.
Tipton is 6-9 this year, 2-6 in the RVC after a 72-58 loss Saturday at Calamus-Wheatland. where Zach Butler scored a team best 20 points. On the season, the Tigers average 53 points per game and give up 60, shooting 40% from the floor, 32% from long range and 68% at the line with 27 rebounds, 12 assists, eight steals and 15 giveaways per game. Individually, Preston Daedlow puts up 13 points and three assists per night. Zach Binns averages six boards and Brody Marchik four steals. These two teams split last year’s meetings and Mid-Prairie has won five of six overall.
