Columbus/Winfield-Mount Union suffered a defeat in the first round of Class 2A state regional wrestling duals, falling 38-28 against Solon. The 18th-ranked Wildcats got a 6-3 lead after senior Ty Scorpil earned a pin at 126 pounds, but they wouldn’t have another win until sophomore Kason Dopler won a 9-1 major decision at 175.

Senior Russell Coil would win by fall at 285 lbs for Columbus/WMU, as did sophomore Dakota Aney at 106 and sophomore Jacob Nelson at 113, but it was not enough to help their team rally against number-14 Solon, as Columbus/Winfield-Mount Union suffers just its fifth loss of the season in duals and will fall short of the state tournament.
