The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk basketball teams return home Thursday as they welcome the Williamsburg Raiders to Wellman for a non-conference doubleheader. The Golden Hawk girls are 9-8 on the season after a 51-42 loss at Tipton Tuesday where they were led by 14 points from Callie Huber. On the year, Mid-Prairie scores 53 points per game and gives up 50, shooting 39% from the floor, 27% from three and 57% at the line with 36 rebounds, 12 assists, 12 steals and 21 turnovers per game. Individually, Huber leads with 11 points and nine boards, and Nora Pennington has four steals and three assists per night.
Williamsburg is 10-7 this season. They are ranked No. 15 in the latest Class 3A poll from the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union. They were 67-34 winner over South Tama on the road Tuesday. On the year, the Raiders score 53 per game and give up 43, shooting 36% from the field, 27% from three and 64% at the line with 24 rebounds, nine assists, 10 steals and 12 turnovers per game. Individual leaders include, Carly Rich with 13 points, two assists and two steals per game. Zoe Allen adds six boards. The Raiders have won three of the last four in the series, but it was the Hawks with a road win a season ago 52-45.
The Mid-Prairie boys are 8-7 this season after an 83-73 win at Tipton Tuesday where they put five in double figures led by 20 points each from Dylan Henry and Ace Peck. On the year, the Hawks score 63 per game and give up 61, shooting 42% from the floor, 35% from three and 68% at the line with 28 rebounds, 14 assists, seven steals and 16 turnovers per game. Individual leaders include, Bryce Henry at 13 points per game and Brady Weber with six boards, five assists and two steals per night.
Williamsburg is 10-5 this season. They are ranked No. 10 in the latest Class 3A poll from the Iowa Boys High School Athletic Association. The Raiders were a 55-36 winner over South Tama Tuesday. This year Williamsburg averages 57 points per game and gives up 52, shooting 45% from the floor, 31% from three and 59% at the line with 30 rebounds, 12 assists, six steals and 13 turnovers per game. Individual leaders include, Derek Weisskopf with 22 points and three assists per night. Kellen Cockrell has nine boards per game and Grant Hocker three assists. Williamsburg has won three of the last four meetings including a 69-61 win on their home floor last year.
