During a school year in which several area districts have discussed the merits of a four-day school week, the Columbus Community School District is the latest to begin entertaining the idea.

The District has started to collect feedback through informational sessions and surveys. According to the most up-to-date results, 84 percent of certified staff, 100 percent of non-certified staff, and 88 percent of students in grades 6-11 who have taken the survey are in favor of a four day school week at Columbus. An additional survey for parents and guardians has been sent home and is due by Friday, February 9.

One Central Office informational session was held last Wednesday with another scheduled for Tuesday, February 6 from 6-7:30 p.m. The Columbus CSD staff held a session last Friday. The data being collected will be further discussed at the Columbus School Board Work Session scheduled for Monday, February 12 at 6 p.m. in the Columbus School Board Room.
