A Kalona man was arrested Thursday afternoon for multiple warrants out of Washington County.
Twenty-one-year-old Keegan Gingerich was charged with sexual exploitation of a minor-cause to engage in a sexual act, a class B felony, stalking a person under 18 years of age, a class C felony, stalking with the use of a technological device, also a class C felony, purchasing or possessing a depiction of a minor in a sex act-first offense, a class D felony, and invasion of privacy, an aggravated misdemeanor.
According to a criminal complaint, Gingerich strategically placed holes in walls to discreetly view and record a person under 18 years of age. He also used a technological device to create, store, or transmit information on another person without authorization. Per the complaint, it was determined that his stalking “would cause a reasonable person to feel terrorized, frightened, intimidated, or threatened, or to fear that the person intends to cause bodily injury to, or death of that specific person or member of that person’s immediate family.”
Gingerich was transported to the Washington County Jail and held on a $100,000 cash-only bond. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Friday, February 9.
