The Area Game of the Week on KCII closes out the basketball regular season tonight as the Keota and Highland boys meet on the hardwood.

It’s been nineteen games and nineteen wins for the sixth-ranked Eagles, already having clinched the South Iowa Cedar East. Keota pounded Cardinal 83-40 Friday night behind 24 points from Sawyer Stout. Tanner Waterhouse and Billie Kindred each added 16. Scoring the second-most points per game in 1A, Keota has won all but three of its games by at least 20 points. The Eagles are also top-ten in assists, steals, blocks, shots attempted and made, plus they lead Iowa boys basketball with 787 rebounds. Individually, Sawyer Stout has set the pace, with more than 20 points per game, while Cole and Billie Kindred also average double-figures.

Highland heads to Keota with a 2-16 record and intentions of spoiling the Eagles’ perfect regular season. The Huskies earned their second win less than a week ago, 77-57 over Tri-County. Nicolas Oriano had a double-double while the Huskies got 16 from Bryce Hazelett. The Highland offense won the first three quarters, while its defense forced 28 Trojan turnovers. Averaging 32 points per game and allowing 62, the Huskies shoot 30% from the field, 21% from deep, and 45% from the line. This goes along with 25 rebounds, three assists, five steals, two blocks, and 24 turnovers per game. Keota has won the previous six matchups with Highland, including a 74-39 triumph nearly one year ago.

You can catch the Eagles host the Huskies tonight on the KCII3 Stream, available at KCIIradio.com. Pregame coverage starts at 7 p.m. with opening tip at 7:30 live from Keota.
