Postseason action continues for Lone Tree girls basketball on KCII tonight as they host Danville in the regional quarterfinals.

The Lady Lions kicked off this year’s playoff run with a 73-14 blowout of Winfield-Mt. Union last Thursday. A 29-0 first quarter put Lone Tree in the driver’s seat for most of the contest. Finley Jacque, Alyson Ford, and Avery Lisk all finished with double-figures, while the Lady Lions forced 39 WMU turnovers and snared 60 total boards. Putting up the second-most shots per game and collecting the second-most offensive rebounds in 1A, Lone Tree is scoring nearly 55 points per game. Their defense, which allows just 32 points per game, has been fueled by a class-leading 458 steals. Vivian Zaruba has the ninth-most steals at the individual level. She and Ava Christofferson average 7.5 points per night, trailing only Finley Jacque, who is getting 16.

Lone Tree squares off with a Danville team that enters the night with similar numbers across the board. The Bears earned a 65-55 win against Burlington Notre Dame in their postseason opener behind 36 combined from seniors Kenna Furnald and Jaeda Molle. With a 17-4 record and second-place finish in the Super Conference South, Danville gets 61.8 points per game offensively, while allowing 38. An equally dominant defense for the Bears has produced the sixth-most steals in 1A. Danville is also top-10 as a unit in total points, field goals made and attempted, and shooting percentage from the floor. Lone Tree holds the overall advantage in the series, taking five of seven games. The Bears, however, have won the last two meetings, the most recent coming in November 2018.
