A Wapello man was arrested last week for child pornography and exploitation of minors.

On Friday, February 9 at approximately 8:30 a.m. multiple law enforcement agencies conducted a search warrant at 426 North Main Street in Wapello. The search was in reference to a three-month investigation into the distribution and collection of child pornography following a cybertip sent to the Louisa County Sheriff’s Office.

As a result of the investigation and search warrant, 22-year-old Garyth Peck was arrested and charged with 27 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, each a class C felony. He is being held at the Louisa County Jail on a $50,000 cash-only bond. The investigation is ongoing and further charges are expected.

Assisting the Louisa County Sheriff’s Office in the investigation was the Burlington Police Investigations Unit and State of Iowa Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. Working alongside the Sheriff’s Office on the search warrant was the Burlington Police Department and State of Iowa Division of Criminal Investigations Electronic Detection K9 Unit.
