On Wednesday of last week, a group of 9 Supervisors from across the State had a meeting with Governor Reynolds to talk about several topics of interest for county governments in Iowa. Among them was Washington County Supervisor Jack Seward Jr. The 3 topics discussed for nearly an hour were regarding the carbon pipeline and use of Eminent Domain for private and for-profit projects, the state limitations on cities and counties to levy taxes, and the planned HHS redesign of the MHDS regions and service delivery that removes any oversight by local government. While at the Capitol that day, Seward was also able to meet with Rep Heather Hora, Sen Dawn Driscoll, and neighboring State Rep Brad Sherman to share his thoughts on the MHDS and HHS issues.
