The Washington City Council held a budget meeting on Tuesday and heard from some partner organizations. Amber Talbot, Director at PAWS & More Animal Shelter in Washington, gave a presentation and shared some details about their future building “An expansion, I mean obviously we are building for the future for expansion opportunities, one of the big things would be for, you know it’s been brought to our attention of like boarding capabilities for the future. Or spay-neuter clinic like our own surgery space, if the vet shortage would stop, and there were enough veterinarians we would love to have our own surgery space as well, and not have to transport the animals everywhere.” So far, the shelter has raised $700,000 to go towards their new shelter. The total cost of the project is estimated to be $3.5 million. They hope to have a year full of fundraisers before breaking ground in spring of 2025.
