Prairie Flower Bakery in Keota was opened by Jenny Schneider last September. After the success experienced by the business in its first few months open, Schneider is expanding the bakery’s hours and offering more than just baked goods.
Starting this month, Prairie Flower Bakery has gone from being open on just Sunday, to now adding Monday and Tuesday to the weekly schedule. With the popularity of their baked goods, Schneider has also started offering lunch specials. This Monday is stuffed pork chops with wild rice and vegetables, and Tuesday is potato soup with a whole wheat roll. As if that wasn’t enough, Prairie Flower Bakery just recently teamed up with Fiddle Dee Dee over the weekend for its Monthly Market.
Schneider, who is a first-time business owner, spoke with KCII about the hectic, but rewarding experience it has been through the first five months. “It has been a lot bigger and more exciting than I ever even imagined. The support of the community has just been phenomenal. The skills that I’ve picked up since then has just been unreal.”
Schneider also added that plans are in place to open the bakery four days a week starting in March. For more information about Prairie Flower Bakery in Keota, visit their Facebook page.
