U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley spoke with KCII News about year round E-15 sale authorization, and how it will benefit Iowa farmers. “So EPA has made a decision, starting in 2025, to let it be sold year round. Now we are in a situation: why not for 2024? But after 2024 we’ll have the long-term view, and that is consumers can depend on it year-round, and the producers of ethanol will have the long view, because there will be more used if you have E-15.” E-15 is a gasoline blend of 15 percent ethanol. Historically, Clean Air Act provisions have precluded summertime E-15 sales. In 2022, Iowa and seven other corn-producing states filed a petition supporting year-round E-15. The EPA approved the petition today but says the authorization will not go into effect until 2025.
